Hello! My name is Kanoe Kageyama but my students call me "Miss K".  I am from Honolulu, Hawaii where I attended Punahou School for 13 years. I have a younger brother named Noah and a younger sister named Jeanai.  I also have four dogs, Ruffles, Rosie, Puppy, and Mocha and two hamsters named Koda and Hawk.

I moved to Oregon four years ago to attend Pacific University where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Learning and Teaching.  Currently, I am working on my Masters in Teaching in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

Why teaching?

Growing up, I had the privilege of attending an amazing school which provided me with every resource and opportunity I could have ever wanted.  I also had wonderful teachers who genuinely cared about each and every student and believed we could be successful.  When I began my education courses at Pacific University and had the opportunity to talk to others about their education, I started to realize not everyone had the same experience that I did in school.  It did not make sense to me that people had so many teachers who did not care about them or believe in them.

I want to be a teacher so I can provide my students with the same experience I had in school.  I want my students to feel, even if it is just for a year, that their teacher believes in them and pushes them to suceed.  I love seeing the lightbulb go off in kids and when students begin to make connections. I want to help my students to love learning.

For a while now, I have loved working with children and helping them learn.  I am so excited to take my last step towards having my own classroom and beginning my journey as a teacher!
